Dear guys, I have been looking for the publications produced with the help of GPUGrid to insert them in a page showing the results of distributed computing efforts. I've long noticed that the "lack" of "actual" results is one of the elements that most keep people uninterested in BOINC and DC, so I'm trying to solve that in the better possible way: showing the current results, be they publications or whatever else. For GPUGrid, I've found this page: http://multiscalelab.org/gianni/publications That doesn't fit the need, because it is a list of ALL publications made by the Multiscale Lab and not ONLY those made possible with the help of BOINC. Would anyone be so kind to point out which ones are those I'm looking for? |

I am also interested in that. Publications are the best feedback for users understanding a little bit of science world. Just a star or something else on the publications in which the contribution of BOINC users was relevant, should be fine. |

Click on the Science Link, when the Science page loads, click on Publications. I know all the publications are not available online, but at least you have the journal references. It would be nice to see the publications on the GPUGrid site; at least the Abstracts. I expect most people would struggle to understand all the science, especially the Mathematics and programming, so perhaps an educational version would be more useful for all; those that want to read the articles can go to the Library, or just click a link to an online .pdf version. As for references, that is the list of everyone crunching here! I suppose the web manager could trawl through recent tasks and link crunchers to recent publications or pending publications, but I doubt anyone would want that job. Perhaps in time and with the build up of new work and publications, the scientists here would want all the papers, presentations and videos to be collected together for easy reference; a repository of knowledge. |

Personally I can't understand the contribute of distributed computing in research papers from this publication page. There are also publications dated 1998.. |

Which is exactly why I've asked.... |

Dear all, So far publications or scientific communications were advertised on the news section. But certainly, there is no permanent page as reference for publications coming from GPUGRID work. At the moment, the following two published work that contains GPUGRID participation - the second being the reference paper for GPURGRID from now on: * F. X. Guix, G. Ill-Raga, R. Bravo, T. Nakaya, G. De Fabritiis, M. Coma, G. P. Miscione, J. Villà-Freixa, T. Suzuki, X. Fernàndez-Busquets, M. A. Valverde, B. de Strooper and F. J. Muñoz, Amyloid-dependent triosephosphate isomerase nitrotyrosination induces glycation and tau fibrillation, Brain 132, 1335 (2009). * I. Buch, M. J. Harvey, T. Giorgino, D. P. Anderson and G. De Fabritiis, High-throughput all-atom molecular dynamics simulations using distributed computing, in press J. Chem. Inf. and Mod. (2010) And the following ones, from GPUGRID work as well, are in revision process: - T. Giorgino and G. De Fabritiis, Convergence of the potential of mean force computed through microsecond-scale bidirectional steered molecular dynamics, submitted (2010). - J. Selent, F. Sanz, M. Pastor and G. De Fabritiis, Sodium ions toggle the rotamer switch in sodium-sensitive dopaminergic G-protein coupled receptors, submitted (2010). - K. Sadiq and G. De Fabritiis,Explicit solvent dynamics and energetics of HIV-1 protease flap-opening and closing, submitted (2010). Plus one more that is related to the "scientist-client", the interface we created ad use to safely submit work to the server: - T. Giorgino, M. J. Harvey and G. De Fabritiis, Distributed computing as a virtual supercomputer: Tools to run and manage large-scale BOINC simulations, submitted (2010). It has taken us a while since we started in August 2008 to start publishing what we have been doing all these months. At the moment all these publications and prospective ones are the result of the work of about 6 people (including collaborators) during 1.5 years. At the moment, we are finally dedicated to science production, so yes, it is about time to have proper reference pages for it. We'll try to make more visible the past and present research being undertaken in GPUGRID. Thanks for your feedback, ignasi |

Thank you for the reply ignasi, I really appreciate that you (and GPUGrid team) spend time to speak with users. I understand that in scientific world sometimes it takes a long time to obtain results. No problems on that. :) Let us know (maybe in the news) when you will create a references page. Meanwhile this post will be really useful. Thank you. |

Alright. I have slightly updated the Science page, adding a publications section to each experiment described there. How do you like it that way? cheers, i |

I think that when the number of publications will increase, a new dedicated page will be needed (like Experiments; Background; Performance). For the moment I like that way. The GPUGrid science page is really a good one. :) Thank you again ignasi. |
