I'd like to see a new BOINC feature that's likely to help the move to GPU projects in general. At least under Windows, it should be able to count the card slots of various types (filled or not), and then report the number of each type in its startup header. This report could include links to web pages listing the GPU card types known to be compatible with both BOINC and each card slot type. I'd expect the lists for any new card type slots designed to be compatible only with the newer Intel CPUs and only with Intel GPUs to be empty for quite a while. Any of you planning to ask companies that make computers you are interested in to be sure to include enough card slots compatible with the older types of GPU cards? |
