You wrote gpu (dual) on one card. GTX275 is a single GPU. If you wnat a dual you must get a 9800 GX2 or a 295GTX, if you plan to use Nvidia. There's also the 7950 GX2 but DON'T get that!

Hi,

the link points to a dual GPU card. It's a 1x GTX 275 + 1x G92b (?). The intended purpose of the second GPU is PhysX.

Don't know if this works with BOINC in general or GPUGRID in particular.

But I would go for a GTX 295.

Unless it has something to do with not have 2 PCI-e slots, because you're not going to run SLI.

Not a very good card for GPUGRID - a GTX295 would be much better, if you can still find them. Better still, save the pennies and wait for Fermi (GTX48x).

I think the GTX 260 is a great card for GPUGRID. You just need to make sure it's one of the newer ones that are 216 shader / 55nm core.

I had also wondered about using multi-able 260s , what do I look for? or are the 285s way better output? kind of trying to find the best crunch for the cost ; funds are presently a problem

I'm guess that would be 2X GTX260(216) or 4X GT240 if you've got 4 slots...

you'd get 2 WU going with 2X GTX 260(216), but the GTX285 would get WU's done faster, so it depends on if you want to leave your PC on 24/7, or just for a WU at a time.

Two GTX 260/216 55nm cards will outperform a single GTX 285 by a large margin.

I wasn't talking about the GTX 285 getting more done then two GTX 260/216 cards, I was simply saying that a GTX 285 or GTX 275 would complete one WU faster than one GTX 260/216. But depending on how the PC is to be used, either as a 24/7 crunchbox or a "1 WU a day, keeps the bad feelings away" (as some do), he can turn off the PC, or resume gaming, faster with one GTX 285 then with two GTX 260/216, because they don't work on the same WU, but one WU at a time.
