how is that i have done lots of WU's and the list of tasks shows about 8 items, 1 of which is currently in progress, 4 of the last WU's i have done/failed recently and the remaining 3 items jumps to 3-4 months ago and are failed !

I've seen some BOINC projects stop displaying tasks a certain time after enough machines have returned that workunit. You might want to check if, for the older workunits, enough other machines have returned the workunit to meet the quorum; and also, whether any recent workunits are missing and also the oldest of the recent workunits.

A common cause of this problem is that you've signed into the same BOINC project under at least two different usernames, without making any effort to tell that BOINC project that the different usernames are for the same person.
