Got my new GTX 260 in and put it in a mchine with another GTX 260. Installed 190.62, Boinc 6.6.38 and off we go. I get 6 WUs and all crunches fine for a few hours. Played a game for about an hour and after exiting the game was looking at settings in Nvidia control panel not thinking changed a 3d setting and all the WUs gave a "Computation Error" even the ones not on a GPU except ONE that was on a GPU. So all but one errored out. I reset the project and it abandoned the one working. Now I get "Reached daily limit of 6". I started another thread because with one 260 I was getting 6 WUs at a time. Now with 2 GPUs I cannot get any for a day. I assume that is 24 hours? I'll put them on F@H again. Really frustrated. I know it was my fault I should not have made changes with it running but between the driver problems I have had with a 260(192), going from 2 WUs at a time to 6 on one card and not getting bonuses and now 2 GPUs sitting idle....... Why do the ones in the queue error? Yet one on the GPU does not? Whatever. I'll get over it I am sure and be back whenever my daily limit is expired. |

The daily limit is over a 24 hour period. The point is to prevent a system from downloading and erroring out a large number of tasks (without this safety check we had examples of bad systems pulling literally thousands of tasks down per day and repeating this over and over ... Errors can come from all kinds of places ... and for all kinds of reasons. Sadly, some games can do this as can changing settings. Don't feel bad, I just turned off two of my systems for an hour and they are still not quite running right yet ... I think I have one back, but the other one is really strange still ... |

Maybe giving out fewer WUs at a time might help someone trouble shoot though or recover from a mistake or small problem. Thanks for reply. Was pretty frustrated. |

(without this safety check we had examples of bad systems pulling literally thousands of tasks down per day and repeating this over and over ... Well, that is part of the reason that this project does give out so few tasks at a time. My fastest system which has 4 GPUs returns a task on average about every hour and change and I only get 4-6 tasks spare on it. On SaH where you can get huge numbers of tasks at one whack this can be a real problem where you have a bad machine and it can "burn" through thousands of tasks easily. With the limiting rules though the bad systems get pared down to only one task in short order and then as they start to return good results they get back the margin and can make longer queues. Hopefully you are back in the gold ... In other news I may have fixed my other errant system so that the displays are back to the way they should be ... and the results returned are good, or at least I don't have any bad ones ... Happy computing ... |
