zpm Send message Joined: 2 Mar 09 Posts: 159 Credit: 13,639,818 RAC: 0 Level Scientific publications	Message 11618 - Posted: 3 Aug 2009, 0:41:17 UTC Last modified: 3 Aug 2009, 0:53:09 UTC I was just wondering if gpugrid could in the future, adopt a zip architecture for dl's and uploads. possibly 7zip or gzip or zip... my big file to upload is 30 mb's(P155-TONI_HERG-1-4-RND3066_1_4 ) and at 26 kb/s takes a long time... limited by my isp who's docsis 1.0 sucks and 3.0 should come soon.... i know cpdn uses zip files, and other projects use 7zip.... i was just wondering if that could be added in the future...??? i now realize this thread should go into wish list.... I rarely upload on purpose from my home dsl. Emailing a word or pdf attachment of 1-2 mb takes a long time as it is. Does anyone know what type of encoding is done on the gpugrid results? I have 3 CUDAs crunching: two 9800gtx+ and one gtx280. I calculate a minimum of 5 uploads in 24 hours based on CUDA performance on my 3 systems.
