To be honest, I'm still relatively new to Linux myself, so it may have been more luck than judgement. I got a bit annoyed with it after the 3rd failed attempt, to install 190.18, and went through and totally removed anything starting with 'nvidia'. I didn't just "uninstall", I "removed completely". As far as I am aware the 190.18 download contains everything necessary for a complete install from scratch so, I figured, why leave anything there to get messed up. During install, I got a ton of error messages about not being able to write to, or find, certain files so I assume it wrote all new files because it all loaded successfully and works great now. Sorry I can't give you a more tecnically precise run-through. By that time, I had reached the point where I was going to completely reinstall Ubuntu and start again. Mark |
