why am I not geting WUs? 14/06/2009 8:21:08 p.m. GPUGRID Message from server: No work sent 14/06/2009 8:21:08 p.m. GPUGRID Message from server: CUDA app exists for Full-atom molecular dynamics but no CUDA work requested 14/06/2009 8:21:08 p.m. GPUGRID Message from server: Full-atom molecular dynamics on Cell processor is not available for your type of computer. I am getting this message all the time now . only getting one WU every 8 hrs. can anyone enlighten me? seems though I am being weaned off! I have been getting 450k of credits per month sofar. using QX9650 cpu and Geforce 295 |

Actually the client message 14/06/2009 8:21:08 p.m. GPUGRID Message from server: CUDA app exists for Full-atom molecular dynamics but no CUDA work requestedsays it all. Your BOINC Client doesn't request CUDA work but CPU work from GPUGRID. Better would be to use 6.5.0 or 6.4.5 (which is BTW still the recommended version for GPUGRID) instead of 6.6.31. pixelicious.at - my little photoblog |

Thanks for the help got 2 new WUs as soon as version download was installed another question how do you deslect SLI with a Ge Force 295 ? I presume this will give two GPUs working at the same time !! Thanks in advance. Ross |

You're welcome! Yes, with SLI turned off the GTX 295 should run two tasks at the same time... I don't have a two GPU card or a SLI config, but from what I found with the forum search, the setting is in the Nvidia control panel in the section for 3D Settins/set PhysX and SLI Configuration. pixelicious.at - my little photoblog |

oops problems GPUGRD is going around in cirles and reduced my World community grid to 3 tasks instead of 4. when I changed back all threads are working plus the GPUGRD is clocking off correctly. got the same old messages but will work around that now will try your suggests re SLI Thanks Ross |

Have you tried 6.4.5 or 6.5.0? I think 6.5.0 should work like you want it. I use it on all GPU crunchers and have no problems with work requests... It also sould run 4 CPU Wus and 2 GPU Wus in parallel. 6.5.0 Windows x68_64 pixelicious.at - my little photoblog |

have got the 295 running 2 WUs in parrallel.plus four WUs of World Community Grid had to change the setting for dual moniters first. not using 2 moniters anyway just a 40inch lcd series 6 Samsung. still using v 6.631 at present to see if it is stable . will keep you informed. have you had any expeirence with ATI cards ? i have read lots of posts , some say no way, but other have solutions? have 4870x2 on another computer. Thanks Ross |

The "not requesting work" is a notorious problem of the 6.6.x series clients, that's why I'm still recommending 6.5.0 (see e.g. here). It's related to the long term debts getting "out of whack" and the solution proposed by the Devs is to use a cc_config.xml file with an option like "reset debts" or so. Either use the search of ask again, I'm sure someone could give you the details. Otherwise: you probably tried 6.4.7, which has the problem of not using all cpu cores, just as you've seen. 6.5.0 doesn't have that problem. And by "GPUGRD is going around in cirles" I presume you mean the crunching time increments slowly? That's because clients prior to 6.6.x show the CPU time, not the GPU time. CPU usage by GPU-Grid is pleasantly low under windows, so you wouldn't see much of an increase here, but the progress bar would still advance at the normal rate. have you had any expeirence with ATI cards ? i have read lots of posts , some say no way, but other have solutions? have 4870x2 on another computer. And what's your question? GPU-Grid doesn't work on ATI, currently only folding@home (non-BOINC) and Milkyway (unofficial) do. MrS Scanning for our furry friends since Jan 2002 |

Yes I tried running with 6.631 but it got out of whach again. presently running 6.5 sofar so good 4 cores doing World commuity Grid and 2 GPUs doing 2 GPUGRIDs every 8.5 hrs questions is it simply the No of cores? on a GPU that account for the time taken or the speed of the card/s or the computer ? I notice some results on other computers have very short crunch times How is this done? My query re ATI cards will the new drivers as of yesterday make any diffence? Thanks in advance Ross |

Glad it works as expected now! is it simply the No of cores? on a GPU that account for the time taken or the speed of the card/s or the computer ? Not sure what "it" is, but if you mean the speed of processing GPU-Grid tasks: it's mainly determined by the number of shader processors times their frequency, as well as architecture (G9x vs GT200) and gpu core clock speed. Of some influence are driver version and gpu memory speed. Of minor influence are cpu speed and number and PCIe speed (within sane limits). I notice some results on other computers have very short crunch times Example? I.e. how short is "very short" for you? will the new drivers as of yesterday make any diffence? That depends entirely on your application, but probably not. MrS Scanning for our furry friends since Jan 2002 |
