Bootup trouble on PS3- freezes after kboot

The contents look different than the picture. I put the files on a 2GB fat32 USB disk, and prepped the PS3 as instructed. After plugging in the USB and turning on the PS3, it detects my keyboard and mouse, goes past kboot, but shows some USB errors and freezes at some step that says ps3- some other stuff. did i prep the usb drive wrong?
