I had to abort this wu as it kept on getting stuck (32 bit XP, 9600, WHQL 182.08). Will upgrading to a later driver help avoid stuck wu's?

Possibly. I tend to run 182.50 on my machines. I see you are already running boinc 6.6.28. Its also possible they are just too much for the 9600GT you are running.

Yes, but our implicit assumption is that the driver version is 182.50 or equivalent.

What I mean is that I am running 182.50 drivers on my i7 and when changing from 6.6.20 to 6.6.23 the hanging tasks stopped hanging or running slow. But, he is running a slower card, and 182.06 drivers.
