Is GPUGRID project running or it has stopped? From what I see on stats page (http://www.gpugrid.net/graphs/) the graphs are not recent.

The project is very much running and the stats page is obsolete and will hopefully be removed shortly.

This project has recently upgraded the server hardware and has been having a few download problems.

While there is some work because WUs available at times of the day they are quickly gobbled up by hosts wanting work. It really does depend on when your computer asks as to whether and how often it gets.

Hope that helps and stick with it.

See "Server Status" in top right of browser or click on https://gpugrid.net/server_status.php

This is my question also. Poem has folded its doors and shutdown. The number of tasks in the field has dropped by almost 30% the number of new tasks to send has dropped to almost zero almost all the time now. This is not a server problem, it appears to be an admin problem in creating work to send.

Well, I'm abandoning this project for this exact reason.

I don't know if it's a timezone issue or whatever (not that it would be hard to synchronize the work with the workers, this is a solved problem in distributed systems) but I'm donating my modest GPU to some other project that actually uses it. GPUGrid only had work for my laptop (especially "short runs") in two occasions this whole semester, a whopping 9 days of processing. Needless to say, all other projects run fine, and have ran for years...

Each project may have problems.
If points, badges or ranking are more important for you, than goals which your hardware serves, then it really is better to rise to top charts in other projects.
For remaining cases, there is a backup/standby project mechanism.

The next unsolved problem is, that although there are almost no new tasks available for download (so the download server for sure should not be over-burdened), the download is interrupted several times and can take up to 20 minutes.

I had postet this problem here in the forum some time ago, but no change so far (most probably no one from GPUGRID has even read this posting yet).

I want cpugrid projects but since now there are almost no tasks, I waste my GeForce on GPU Milkiway nonsense.

Same here. Before the "server change" I was truck'n right along. Then server change and zip, nothing "Project has no tasks available". So, there are NO tasks? or the new server if fubar? Will it be back? There is a problem? there is no problem?

actually I got a second one; in total I have three GPUs waiting; so somehow I got a bit lucky. If the server stats is showing the truth there are still mainly 0 WUs available.

Hope it get refilled soon with real science. I just don't like those math projects acting as backup projects. I want proteins. Or any other Bio/Health oriented GPU project on BOINC. There seems not much around these days anymore.

What would, of course, be nice is if the GPUGRID team tells us when we can expect new WUs. A rough estimate (say: tomorrow, or in 2-3 day, or in about 1 week, ...) would be sufficient.

Maybe they break their silence once in a while.

That would be a great idea. A pity, we don't get that courtesy.

A better idea would be to let us know ahead of time that they are running out of WUs and expect a dry spell for while.

I feel that we take a greater interest in their work than they do in the crunchers. The communication has been poor or non-existent for the time I have been associated with the project. We are but poor serfs to the Universitat Pompeu Fabra scientists.

IT guys sneakily moved server IP. Took us a bit to notice and now we are having some issues sending out jobs. We are hopefully gonna fix it today and send out lots of sims.

I noticed that the number of 'tasks in progress' on the server status page dropped very dramatically, from around 2,000 this time last week to barely 100 now.

At the same time, most of the very rare WUs that I received were resends from user errors like timeouts or crashes.

So it seemed to me that the process of generating new work from previous successful runs had ground to a halt.

All BOINC projects have a 'workunit generator' of some sort, perhaps under a different name like 'splitter'. Usually, the status of these daemons is displayed on the respective projects' server status pages, but not here.

Would it be worth adding the extra daemon status line to the SSP, so we can monitor it for you?

Hm I don't think that's feasible. The workunits are generated in a highly complex manner on our local machines using adaptive sampling methods.
Practically we just have to monitor how many WUs are running and when it drops too much we should check if our machines are still doing their jobs.

Check the forums here. Most active projects will get a post within a day of not getting any tasks. GPUGrid should be even quicker with the nearly zero queue.

Yeah, I assumed that the people who actually simulate (Adria/Pablo) were checking the forums. Apparently not. We should probably discuss this with them.
