This application should improve the usability of the desktop while running.

ALL Good from where I'm sitting.
I think the behavior and setting requirements are almost perfect now - Well done.
This will mean a review of performance with and without SWAN_SYNC, but it looks like it does not need to be used/recommended anymore. We will know for sure when we run a few production tasks.
Anyone else? |

We can look into it later.

Why don't you just tell us the steps you have taken to resolve priority issues.
1) Have you returned App priority back to below normal?
2) Have you changed thread priority and by how much?
3) Stop treating us like mushrooms and just tell us what you've done.

From one non-mushroom to another,
I don't know what else GDF changed in the app, but I did post that the Beta's Base (initial) thread priority was set to 6 and task priority is back to below normal, along with some additional observations about performance with and without SWAN_SYNC:
News - New application acemdlong 6.14 is out
You will be able to see this yourself using Process Explorer if and when the Beta changes are applied and released. |

I have just did like E@H. Left the process priority to below normal and increase thread priority to normal. A user here posted what to do, not me.

acemdbeta6.41 for windows out.
A bit confusing, I've been running 6.14 as this WU shows:
4 Jul 2011 22:35:14 UTC 5 Jul 2011 12:37:02 UTC Completed and validated 17,652.64 799.64 10,338.26 15,507.38 ACEMD2: GPU molecular dynamics v6.14 (cuda31).
On this host
But, I'm not into BĂȘta-Testing, on GPUgrid.
If it's more efficient and gives an even higher GPU load, why wait?

No, I promoted the beta to production.
Let me know if there is any problem.

OK, looking forward to this new build/version and problems/errors, will be reported
here. (acemdbeta6.41 for windows, without the 'beta', acemd6.41?)
Thank you kindly for this info.

No problems here. Tried suspends, restarts, messed with settings and had SWAN_SYNC on and off...
It will be interesting to see how they compare in terms of performance against previous results. |

with a 550 Ti, a Toni task took 15minutes (or 1,3%) longer out of a run time of 19 hours. Which is reasonable.
Extrapolated to a year, although comparing only 2 tasks is dodgy, it would mean:
6.14 (above normal) would complete 459 tasks
6.15 (below normal) would complete 453 tasks |
