Hi,

I noticed gpugrid doesn't find a gpu on a nvidia android tv: https://shield.nvidia.com/android-tv

this is unfortunate since these 200$ set top boxes have a tegra x1 gpu inside that can deliver 1 tflop

http://www.nvidia.com/object/tegra-x1-processor.html

not sure if this is the right place to post this but it would be great to get support for this stb since they become more and more available.

The benefits with it are:

22 watt power consumption (compared to a 980ti that does 5 tflops for 220 watt only half as much!!!)

The device is absolutely silent so no disturbing fan noises!

Very low heat emissions

Nvidia is the only provider I know of that maybe wont void your warranty if you root the stb

Thanks Philipp

The 1 TFlop, is for half-precision, SP (FP32) is 512GFlops.

A GTX980Ti has a SP rating of 5632GFlops, which is over ten times the Tegra-X1's.
Closest comparison would be half the 'potential' performance of a GTX750 (512 Cuda cores) and you can buy a GTX750Ti (640 cuda cores) for $105 (1306GFlops stock for 60W, boosts by ~20% so realistically 1.5TFlops). So a GTX750Ti costs half as much and does 3 times as much.

Would take a lot of effort to dev and maintain an app for this and probably not much uptake (participation).
The GPU architecture is different and is supported by an ARM CPU, and it's Android.

I wonder how many people remember the original name for this project. If so, you might understand why this request is so appropriate.

Then again, PS3's probably had more market penetration than nvidia shields ever will.
