I tested this, and as you say, it does not work. One for the scientists to fix.
Per chance do you use the same account details (email address and password) for other projects? If so you could try those sites.
Did you try the suggested workaround?
2) If you forgot your account's email address, or you can't receive email there:
If you have run BOINC under the account, you can still access it. Here's how:
Go to the BOINC data directory on your computer (on Windows this is usually C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC or C:\Program Files\BOINC.
Find your account file for this project; it will have a name like account_lhcathome.cern.ch.xml (where the project URL is http://lhcathome.cern.ch).
Open the file in a text editor like Notepad. You'll see something like
<account>
<master_url>http://lhcathome.cern.ch/</master_url>
<authenticator>8b8496fdd26df7dc0423ecd43c09a56b</authenticator>
<project_name>lhcathome</project_name>
...
</account>
Select and Copy the string between <authenticator> and </authenticator> (8b8496fdd26df7dc0423ecd43c09a56b in the above example).
Paste the string into the field below, and click OK.
You will now be logged in to your account; update the email and password of your account.
Log in with authenticator
Stay logged in on this computer |

Unfortunately, the problem exists again. Not with me but with another user ("X_FISH"). He has reinstalled Boinc on a computer and now the password is no longer accepted.
The password cannot be reset because sending it to his e-mail address is being refused.
Can he therefore contact someone directly by e-mail? Or should I send his email address, which is linked to his account, to someone via PN?
Many thanks in advance on behalf of X_FISH |

I'm also having this problem with a different account. If you guys could fix the email server or help me reset my password, it would be appreciated. |

This project also didn't send me an immediate email notification of a private message - although I have that set in my preferences.
That needs to work, for the project's benefit as well. I (very) occasionally send the admins an urgent PM if something goes wrong. |

If you use an account manager (BAM! etc.) you can retrieve your password from their website or your browser.

I am having this problem too. I made this account recently without realizing that I had made an account previously with a different email address. I would prefer to use that old account instead. However, it seems that I dont have the password saved for the other account, and the "Forgot My Password" page is not working and says that a password reset email cannot be sent.
I am also unable to change my email address on this account to that old address, since the account already exists. |
