I currently have PS3 grid running. But, trying to save as many CPU cycles for the app as i can, so i want to connect from my Windows PC to the Boinc client.

Is there any software for this? I tried using Boinc on my Windows machine to connect to the PS3\'s IP, but no dice...

You have to set up a remote_hosts.cfg file and you have to know the password stored in the gui_rpc_auth.cfg file on the PS3 (you can also change it to something else which is easier to remember). If you have set up both files, you should be able to connect to the PS3 client with your Windows manager.
More about the gui_rpc could be found here.

And there is also a software to remote controll BOINC Clients over the Network - it is called BOINCview and could be found here. For BOINCview you will also have to set up the gui_rpc stuff!

Thanks! I have RemoteView but still cant seem to get it to work. I was testing it with my other Windows machine and now i cant even use the actual Boinc client to work. But, i am using Crunchrs Opptimized Client on my windows machines, so it may not have that function.

Going to revert to the latest boinc client on the windows machines.

As for PS3, i will give that a try and see what i can do.

Well, i think i broke it somehow....

I created a \"remote_hosts.cfg\" using VI and make an entry for my windows machine (192.168.0.4). I edited the \"gui_rpc_auth.cfg\" file and changed the password to one of my liking.

Now, i cant get the client on the PS3 to connect to itself. I tried killing the client but that seems to do nothing. Not a linux guru here... How do i restart the \"server\"?

Also, if i reboot the PS3 does it loose all current work? I am not too sure how this USB image thing works. Does it edit stuff directly to the \"Image\" file? Is there a way to increase the size? I have a 2GB stick, and it would be nice to be able to use more of it.

Well, a simple reboot make it work. I know i could have just restart the boinc server/service, but not sure how to do that.

I now have BoincViewer working great! It manages my 3 windows machines as well as the PS3 just fine.

Thanks!

Great! :-)

Did you shut down the client before you edited the gui_rpc_auth.cfg?
I forgot to mention that you should shut down the BOINC client before you edit those files... If boinc is running and you edit the gui_rpc... the manager of course looses the contact to the client... ;-)
