I run Ubuntu I have libspe2, spu-medialiv, libps3fb, and the OpenSSL libraries. I don\'t know what else I need to run this. I would switch distros but no dvd burner(not going to buy one either) and I need Wifi. ~$ aptitude show libspe2 spu-medialib libps3fb | egrep \"Package:|State:|Version:\" Package: libspe2 State: installed Version: 2.2.0-0ubuntu4 Package: spu-medialib State: installed Version: 0.1git20071126-1 Package: libps3fb State: installed Version: 0.1r114-2 $ uname -a Linux my-desktop 2.6.23 #1 SMP Wed Dec 19 15:06:21 JST 2007 ppc64 GNU/Linux

You\'ll need to ensure that there is a spufs filesystem mounted on /spu. Check that this line is present in /etc/fstab: spufs /spu spufs defaults 0 0

Thank you it is running now I think. At least the cpu time is going up and it did not stop at 1 sec.

Does the progress bar work or will I have to wait till completion to know if it works? I understand it will take between 25-28 hours to run. Yes progress bar works, sort of. The time to completion is not usually correct. The CPU time (run time) will be. It will be more accurate the closer to the end it gets. On my PS3 the current one shows 19 hours estimated (16 done, 3 to go). But it will take 24 hours 50 minutes (plus a few). My PS3 basically runs BOINC at this time. Your time may be longer if you use it for other things, browsing, have screen saver on a lot as these things also use your processor. If you stop BOINC, like to reboot or to play games this also causes some longer times as the checkpointing will resume back in time a little.

To _Jim_: do You use PSUbuntu, or classic Ubuntu? I\'m trying to run Boinc on PSUbuntu with no success (as I wrote to another thread). I would like to ask You - how do I install libraries You wrote?

To _Jim_: do You use PSUbuntu, or classic Ubuntu? I\'m trying to run Boinc on PSUbuntu with no success (as I wrote to another thread). I would like to ask You - how do I install libraries You wrote? Not sure what step you are on if you have a question I will research my steps to try and help. I will keep a closer eye on this thread. Last couple WU have taken about 25,5 CPU hours. I used the live cd for ps3 from ubuntu. I think I tried installing more than 5 times because I don\'t have ethernet running to the ps3. So it is a mess in my head how I did it but I will try to point you in the right direction. I used this to get most of it. http://psubuntu.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1378 To get OpenSSL libraries I went to redhat downloaded the rpm for the program. Used alien to convert rpm to deb. Extracted those two library files from the dep into the library folder. I think I had to run \'ldconfig\' for the library to see those new files. Then create the above spu folder. Installing boinc I followed http://www.technutopia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5882 for the most part read the second post first to get ubuntu specific. To get the boinc manager to work I had to install boincmgr from ubuntu due to some kind of skin error. Then when it is running I selected \'Advanced->Select computer...\' localhost as the name and the password is in gui_rpc_auth.cfg. I changed the password in there to make it easier to remember.
